About Me
Texas Pen Crafters was founded to create fine handcrafted writing instruments.  And, we do a few other fun projects as well, such as; wine bottle stoppers, fan pulls and other small fun things.

"Hi I'm David Starr  and I love creating pens, not just run of the mill pens, but fine handcrafted writing instruments. I love to do my work straight from the chisel, although the tools and materials vary for each pen that I create."
I have crafted pens across a wide range of subjects and styles: from fine fountain pens to ball points and rollerballs, specific pens from client instruction to completely original pens, and each require different tools and a lot of love.

Please contact me to commission a pen, made just for you or a loved one.  I can supply the wood, or you can supply some special wood that has meaning in your family, such as an old barn on family land, or a special hardwood from your land.

WHAT I DO
I like to create pens that are unique to an individual.  I created one with an inlaid horse's head for someone who raises and competes with horses.  I've done special pens that were based on someone's hobby, or a special interest of theirs.

MY TOOLS
I primarily use a wood lathe for the shaping of the pen body, but I use many other power and hand tools to create a pen, such as a table saw and a band saw to cut the wood to a specific size before turning, a drill press to hollow out the center of the pen and many other tools from sharpening systems for my chisels to dust collectors to power sanders and buffers.
